PARMA Music Festival Performer Spotlight: Sophie Dunér

Hailed as a "genuine triple threat" by Cadence Magazine, we are thrilled to have Swedish composer, lyricist, vocalist, and PARMA artist, Sophie Dunér performing at our Festival this August.

Trained as a jazz singer, Sophie's writing and performance have evolved into a unique style of wild, risky, passionate, and exhilarating music.  She blends elements of jazz, contemporary classical, and world music into her unique approach to writing.  Sophie draws influence from a variety of composers such as Kurt Weill, Thelonious Monk, and Igor Stravinsky and perceives her music visually through her original art.

Sophie will be performing on August 14th between 10:00AM - 12:00PM during our "Foreign Exchange" concert at Portsmouth's South Church alongside cellist Jeremy Harman (Sirius Quartet).

Sophie's debut with Big Round Records, THE CITY OF MY SOUL, produced by Michael Haas was released in 2013 to great critical acclaim. Listen to "Hey Doctor" from her Big Round Records release below and follow the link for more information on the release: THE CITY OF MY SOUL.
